Six Senses Laamu
Six Senses Laamu
Six Senses Laamu sits on Olhuveli Island in Laamu Atoll in the southern Maldives, which the resort describes as the only five-star resort on the atoll. Its 94 villas combine overwater villas along timber jetties with beach villas set into the island's vegetation, built from sustainable materials.
The ocean shapes most stays. The resort is home to the Maldives Underwater Initiative, a partnership between its marine biologists and the Manta Trust, Blue Marine Foundation and Olive Ridley Project, and it offers diving, manta encounters and surfing with Tropicsurf on nearby breaks such as Yin Yang.
Guests fly by seaplane from Velana International Airport, a scenic flight of about 65 minutes run as a private charter for resort guests. Seaplanes fly in daylight only, so the resort suggests landing in Malé by 3:00 pm and departing on international flights no earlier than 9:30 am. A domestic flight plus speedboat can be arranged on request.
